Naomi Sings

Naomi is having fun copying the words and sounds she hears.  A lot of it is not very understandable but she is tying!  And if she can't get our attention by saying her "words" she just screams!

Naomi's Big News!

Naomi is crawling!!!!  We are so excited that she's made this developmental milestone.  However, we are very out of practice at having a crawler. She is faster than she looks and she does not want to stay where you put her anymore.  Big adjustments for the Brayer household : )

2011 happenings

First of all we want to say hello to all of you, our dear family and friends. We love each one of you dearly and although we have not been great about keeping in touch please know that we think of and pray for you often. Hopefully with the creation of this blog we can be better at letting you know what is going on here at the Brayer house.

Grace Church celebrated it's 5th anniversary at Old Tucson!

We are very grateful as we reflect on this past year. It was the first full year of enjoying all three of our beautiful daughters, Charis who turned 8 on Thanksgiving Day, Sophie who turned 5 on December 9th, and Naomi who just turned 17 months on the 10th of December. Charis is our smart and athletic 2nd grader. She reads at a 6th grade level and excels at most academic challenges. She started her 3rd year of ballet and enjoys going to the golf course with Papa Jim. I think she would want to play soccer and basketball if there were enough time! Sophie is our fun-loving girl with an abundant imagination! Her favorite things to do are play Barbies, ride her bike and play with anyone and everyone she can. She is in her 2nd year of ballet and started Kindergarten this year! Naomi brings much joy and happiness to our whole family. She laughs easily and it is so fun to watch her do new things. She has had some developmental delays but continues to work hard and progress. We're hoping to see her crawl by Christmas!
Grandaddy and Grandma Helen came in early May to visit. They were able to surprise the girls by coming to watch their ballet recital. The girls received beautiful rose bouquets arranged by Grandaddy! We had a good time showing them some of the local sites.
The older girls were especially excited when we announced we were going to go on vacation with Grandma Cathy and Papa Jim to San Diego in June. We had great fun at the beach and Legoland. Linc surprised me by taking me to a Mercy Me and Third Day concert on our 11th Anniversary while we were in San Diego.
In August I started homeschooling Charis and Sophie. We have all really enjoyed the flexibility of doing school around Linc's work schedule and I love being involved in the girls education. It's all the perks of being a teacher (good students, small class size, fun lessons, ect...) without a lot of the bad parts of being a teacher (paper work, bad kids, meetings, parent teacher conferences, ect...) Over all homeschooling has been a great blessing for our family!
We are extremely involved at our church, of course, with Linc being the Youth and Family Pastor. He wears many hats with this title; overseeing the children's ministry, premarital and marital counseling, leading and teaching the youth group, coordinating volunteers, and more! He took the teens to a Bible camp in California in July and has organized ministry projects for them at a local women's shelter for abused women and children. Along with all of that he does the Bible lesson for our girls every school day before work and is just an overall great Dad and Husband!
Our family had the privilege of being part of our church's second annual Journey To Bethlehem. It is similar to a live nativity where people come and "travel" to Bethlehem with a family on their way to be counted for the census. Along the way they encounter Roman centurions, Shepherds, Angels, Tax Collectors, Wise Men, Inn Keepers, and finally Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. The gospel is shared at the end as the star that lead them to baby Jesus turns into the cross that will again lead them to Jesus our Savior and His sacrificial gift of love. It is a moving experience and we were blessed to be part of a journey that leads people to Christ, the real message of Christmas.
Well, that's it in a nutshell. We pray that you have a joyus Christmas and a blessed New Year! Check our blog for updates throughout the coming year! Love to you all.
